Just finished my first placement during Student Teaching.

I just finished my first placement student teaching at the high school level. It was interesting experience. My cooperating teacher didn't set that good of an example for me and was not the type of professional I strive to be. He was rarely present during the classes I taught, frequently left the building during the school day for coffee of an early lunch. Often times would disappear while I taught his classes and did his grading and duties. Frustrated, but it gave me experience to improve classroom management and teaching students at an older and higher ability level.

Next, i'm going to be student teaching at an elementary level. My cooperating teacher is also the head coach with the softball team i've been helping coach. This program is very well respected and is very successful. The coach is capable to operate at the collegiate level.

I'm looking forward to the elementary (k-5) school and improving my skills as a teacher and role model.

Terrible Loss of a 'Great'

  What happened to Junior Seau ( A former football star and well respected athlete) the other day was a terrible and heartbreaking loss to all sport and physical enthusiasts. He was found in his home diciest from a gun shot wound to the chest. Investigations are ongoing and believed to be a suicide. Some believe to correlate concussions and brain injuries to depression and negative life long health.




Tiaina Baul "Junior" Seau, Jr., was an American football linebacker. A ten-time All-Pro and 12-time Pro Bowl selection, Seau was a member of the NFL 1990s All-Decade Team.
He played college football at the University of Southern California. He was drafted fifth overall by the San Diego Chargers during the 1990 NFL Draft. A key player on the franchise's only Super Bowl team, Seau played 13 seasons for the Chargers and was later inducted into the Chargers Hall of Fame. He also played for the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots, and retired from pro football in 2010.

Depression hurts and we may not realize those who suffer from it around us. Everyday, we should cherish those around us and show love for everyone in a positive manner.  As teachers, it is important to recognize issues in children's lives and have a positive influence in those student's lives.
